MOSAIC TILE COFFEE TABLE
The third grade is studying their community. A tile table is going to be made with their curriculum in mind. Each student will be drawing a house on a tile...these tiles will be set around the perimeter of the table to create a 'city block'. Around the house tiles, the students will fill the space with mosaic trees and sky.
A table was 'reclaimed' off craigslist to use in the project. The table top is 40" x 22", stained wood, with a small drawer. All the tile that is used is recycled seconds tile from Pratt and Larson. Local artist Barb Welty will be assisting the children with their house tiles and the mosaics. Barb taught an after school collage class at the Fernwood Campus this fall, and will be teaching a maps class in the winter. email@example.com
When the table is finished, it will look like an aerial view of a city block, surrounded by beautiful trees!
Barb Welty collaborated with the students in drawing their own house on a tile. The students used porcelain pens on tile donated by Pratt and Larson.
